Food and Music Night at T. Jefferson Gardens July 2

Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County will rock out with music from ‘60s and ‘70s on Saturday, July 2.  The public is invited to an entertaining evening which starts with food trucks serving at 5 pm parked right outside the gardens at 201 E. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.  Although there will be some chairs provided, attendees may want to bring a lawn chair.

The opening performer for the evening will be Chris Dorr of Jefferson, a vocalist and guitarist who will play music from a variety of genres and decades. Dorr will play from 5 to 7 pm.

The Blue Stem duo of Cindi and Shannon Bryan of Jamaica, joined in this performance by Jim Guillman of Jefferson and Jim McDonald of Des Moines, will start at 7 pm and play a wide assortment of favorites with covers from the Eagles, Crosby, Stills and Nash and Linda Ronstadt.

The food trucks for the evening will be Cook’s Snack Shack, Deardorff Highland Cattle and Sweet Swirls Ice Cream. “We’re excited to offer a fun Saturday night outing that the whole family can enjoy,” said Jean Van Gilder. “Dinner and a concert in a beautiful location is hard to beat.”

The Thomas Jefferson Gardens board has arranged six concerts over the summer months for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike. Generous sponsors have made these concerts possible along with other donations. For more information, go to www.tjgardens.org or to the Thomas Jefferson Gardens’ Facebook page.

The Gardens board is also serving as the host for the weekly Greene County farmers market that started June 14 and will run into September, located adjacent to the Gardens on Chestnut Street.  To serve a meal (no fee charged to non-profit groups) or be a vendor, contact Jean Walker at 515-370-1905 or message through the farmers market Facebook page.
